I began dancing in 1969 at the age of seven with Shellagh Mallard in Duncan, B.C. In 1978 Auntie Shellagh, as we all called her passed away and there was no other teacher in the area. I did however teach for a couple of years until I graduated from High School.
My dream was to become a dance teacher so in 1991 I took my Members exam with Helen Ford of the B.A.T.D. and have been teaching ever since. I love teaching and dancing with all of my students.
I teach Highland, Scottish National and Choreography competitively and recreational for those who just love to dance. Once a year we have an examiner from the B.A.T.D. come to our area to test the dancers on their level of dance. We perform for people at the Seniors Homes and do public demonstrations throughout the year and end the dance season with our year end show.
Fifteen of my students will be traveling to Scotland in July 2010 to compete and learn the history of Highland Dance. We will be finishing off our trip with the Edinburgh Tattoo which will be very exciting for the dancers to see.
My studio is located downtown Duncan at 141 Jubilee Street and I can be reached by email
